I’m looking for boots for my fiancé she loves combat boots but always buys cheap ones that wear out fast. I’d love to get her a pair that would last for around $200 Any suggestions? I’ve looked into Doc Martens but apparently they cause blisters. I’ve also heard good things about the Thursday brand boots but I don’t know about long term quality.

What about actual surplus boots? 11 women is 9 men which is an easy size to find. Some places like Kommandostore have really nice euro surplus boots that come in batches. Some may need a resole at times but the uppers are very high quality leather.

They don’t seem to have any that’ll be her style and size as of right now but I will keep an eye on it as I do have some time. Thank you!

u/ZakaryLakota I just got an email that they're doing preorders for these for delivery soon: https://kommandostore.com/products/new-production-austrian-paratrooper-boots

I have no affiliation with that shop but have bought a bunch of Eastern European used combat boots from them in the past. All have been excellent. The ones in that link are new production though which is neat.

These are also in stock used and only in her size. They're a winter version though, so keep that in mind: https://kommandostore.com/collections/footwear/products/austrian-ranger-boot

There's also Jim Green boots for an African styled boot. I love their Vellies, though those are more of a chukka. Their AR8 may fit the bill for your fiance and they're Goodyear welted and really durable.

The AR8 looks absolutely perfect. To be honest thank you!

No boot causes blisters. Blisters are cause by people spending 4 seconds trying on footwear and/or wearing the wrong socks. Dr. Martens would be a good choice, but from this lineup: https://www.drmartens.com/us/en/filtered/unisex/made-in-england/c/04310000?size_w_usa=w_size_11

https://us.nps-solovair.com/collections/womens would be another option. These are easier to resole later than Dr. Martens.

Thursday would a fine option as well.

All of these would likely be considered to be lower tier, but your budget doesn't leave much room for better options.

Solovair over DM's any day, only one of these is a Quality footwear manufacturer.

There are boots that are more prone to blisters than others

Look at Thursday’s boots. My wife has a couple of pairs of boots from them and really likes them. Her oldest pair is about 4 years old.

I am thinking these ones the most. They have some in her style and they are of the cheaper options.

Lowa, Garmont or Danner. These tactical boots are higher quality than a lot of brands being suggested in this thread.

I've been buying Altama jungle boots for 20 years. It's basically a breathable combat boot. I generally wear them out after 5 years of regular use from sole wear.

I wear Belleville flight boots daily. Current pair is about 14 years old and the soles are about all done. Belleville still makes the exact boots so I will be replacing them. Belleville has a huge boot selection and they provide a lot of Made in USA boots to the military.
