Not the question you asked, and I'm sorry I don't have any good recommendations for you, but I can definitely recommend looking up how to darn socks. It's so much easier than I would have considered and it's lengthened the life span of all my favourite socks

tips like this are also appreciated, so thanks! 😊

Great! You're welcome. It definitely is more successful on thicker socks, but I have done it on more summery socks successfully, the repair is just a bit more noticeable if it's on a part of the sock you walk on.

Smartwool hiking socks are where it is at.
In the EU, I buy from Bergfreunde.eu

Glad to see those are in Europe too. I was about to recommend them as they’re my go to but wasn’t sure if they were available there. I regularly put on 14 miles (22km) in a day walking and they are my go to. Stay tight to the foot, wick sweat, has good padding. Lasts a decent amount of time. I have pairs coming up on 2 years and are still in my rotation.

I like my socks as shoes in the house damn
P0llydog OP t1_jebl8ut wrote
yeah that is also something to think about! It’s never obvious until it becomes obvious and someone points it out 😆

This is your problem, buying expensive durable socks is not going to solve the problem. Socks are designed to work as socks not shoes/slippers
Illustrious-Air-9001 t1_jebunv7 wrote
This was going to be my question? How many hours a day are you walking around your house in your socks? You need to find a pair of slippers or comfy house shoes.
disaar t1_jecyqvk wrote
I’d you can get darn tough, get ‘em. Been using mine for years now as socks and slippers. Built like tanks

Smartwool
I believe they have a male and female equivalent. I own 5 pair, and have so for the past 6 years and have not had a hole in them yet.
Pleiadesperson t1_jebz6ex wrote
This is my recommendation, too. I have two pairs of Smartwool socks that are still holding up after 14 years (and a few pairs from 2019), but also I only wear socks in the winter so YMMV

I love cute socks too, but often find they fall into “fast fashion” and don’t last. Socks are my go-to footwear in my house; I lose my slippers all the time. Sounds like you have great suggestions, especially the socks made domestically, not fast fashion and made to last.
C_A_N_G t1_jebd6uh wrote
Check out Bola, made in Sweden. I’ve seen them at Löplabbed but I’ve only bought from their own website. Really good quality anyways and it’s nice to support domestic production!
Northern_Hope t1_jebfwck wrote
I have several pairs of Bola thin wool socks that I've had for many years, still going strong, but for thinner socks I've ended up buying only Swedemount bamboo running socks. They last a really long time, wash well at 60 C and I love how they breathe and handle any sweat compared to usual cotton blends.
mwm424 t1_jebefvv wrote
Buy cheap socks at a big box store, always buy the same kind, and as soon as you get a hole, transition them into the polishing bag. socks are kinda like tires, they're meant to wear out so the rest of you (or your car) doesn't

The Naturkompaniet own brand wool blend socks seem to work well. I’m also about 2 years into some öjbro väntfabrik everyday socks that are showing no signs of falling apart soon.

I’ll add my vote to the stockpile of recommendations for DarnTough socks. Expensive per pair, but are comfy and last a long time. I believe DarnTough will even replace a pair for free if it wears out.

SMARTWOOL! Available in Europe and worth the money. They will keep your feet cozy and warm and they are versatile to use for multiple occasions.
If you want socks that last a lifetime, if you can find them on Amazon buy three pairs of either smartwool or Darntough socks.
Darntough > Smartwool but can be tricky to find in Europe sometimes.
Try bergfreunde

I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to wear them for three months. I find it helps to have a couple different pairs and rotate between them.
