The usual advice I see on here for dishwashers is, if you have a Miele service centre where you live, then Miele. Otherwise go with Bosch. We bought a Miele on the advice of this sub last year and I love it!

Either one is good, our Bosche 300 is going on 10 years

5 years ago we bought a new build in a master planned community where everyone got Bosch appliances (range/oven, microwave, and dishwasher). Everyone HATES (haaaaates) their appliances and many have been replaced. The ovens vary wildly in cooking temps (some run super cold, some run hot) and the warming drawers broke. Everyone I know has already replaced the microwaves. The dishwashers are hanging on but do a crap job. I will never buy a Bosch. I know it’s not an isolated case for our home bc there’s a neighborhood message board with hundreds of homeowners and people are always asking for help w their Bosch appliances. Oh and the builders have stopped installing Bosch in the new phases.

It functions very well. This is so petty, but it’s the way that the racks load that drives me crazy. We vacation at our friends house every year and they have an Asko and it is my favorite dishwasher to load ever. Our other friends that travel there mention the same thing. I know they’ve had it for at least 20 years at this point and it is still functioning perfectly.

ETA— we thought they had a Miele which is why we bought ours. (We needed a dishwasher stat and ordered online during the pandemic shortage.)

I see someone here mentioned Asko (also Speed Queen washer and dryer), anyone else have any experience with these? They are like double or triple the price of other brands.

Our Bosch oven never ever gets to the desired temp I set. After an hour still “heating up” to. Now I set it 20 degrees hotter than needed. Absolutely crap. Dishwasher is shit too. Remarkably crappier than my previous Miele I had in a rental.

My parents installed a Miele dishwasher during a kitchen renovation over 20 years ago. Still going strong with no servicing. We were a family of three who cooked frequently.

Bosch, Siemens, Gaggenau, Neff (and others) are all BSH brands.

IMHO you can forget about BIFL, if you can't repair your appliances yourself.

Bosh built over 15 years ago were great. I have one now I installed 9 years ago new. Works okay but not as well built or designed. Door lift cable system failed. Obvious bad design but no Bosh support for their poor design and manufacturing. So I had to buy parts and do repair. The fault light is always on for last 7 years for the Rivne Sid dispenser. And can not put tall plate in first couple of positions on rear left dish rack or water splashes out the vent hole, fills catch tray and trips fault sensor.

It is okay, but has issues. Never buying one again. Like everything German not what it used to be.

My good buddy buys the cheapest and just figured he replaces every 5-10 years. Replacing a dishwasher is a fairly easy DIY project.

My Bosh has been going for 21 years. One of the racks is rusting and I can no longer get parts so the New Bosh 800 will take 6 months to get. The company never recovered since Covid🙁

My Bosch is 12 years old, i have very hard water, it’s still going. But….it’s getting flakey about running a full cycle, oftentimes I have to run a second time to get it to fully wash.

Miele. They are designed for a minimum 20 year life, they commit to providing parts and servicing, they function extremely well, they are quiet and they are very well featured. I have two in my main kitchen and a third in my prep area (this one is twenty years old) and they have never skipped a beat. All my appliances are Miele. The only item that has ever needed servicing was a dryer, which had a minor repair after 12 years. You only need to compare their appliances side by side on construction quality with Bosch to see there is, in fact, no comparison. The glass and steel door on a Miele washing machine is a thing of beauty compared to everyone else’s plastic.

Good work. You won’t regret it. I don’t know anyone who has bought Miele appliances who regretted it. In the kitchen the only possible upgrade would be to go to commercial grade appliances. For domestic applications they are perfect.

I wish speed queen would make a better looking set. I’ve actually been thinking of modifying speed queen to look more modern, but keep all the functional bits the same. If anyone wants to steal my idea, you could become the Carroll Shelby of washing machines.

I have a bosch. No issues in over 7 years. And it's damn near silent.

We did a kitchen remodel several years ago and bought a Miele dishwasher. At ~1800 USD, it was not inexpensive, but my wife and I routinely remark that it is one of the best purchases we've ever made. We run it at least once a day. It's solid, quiet, intuitive. The upper silverware rack is genius. The LED light inside sounds like a silly feature, but it is actually really nice.
