I'm looking to buy a letter opener (preferably full-tang in all stainless steel) that includes a cap like the sort you would have on a pen.

Ideally, the handle of the letter opener would be large enough to hold firmly - not that it has to be a full-size handle, but I do want a good grip on it.

Essentially, when capped, I want it to be indiscernible from a normal pen.

I do not want a 2-in-1 pen and knife like this. Just a knife.

Any recommendations? Preferably $40 or less.

Edit: Instead of a cap, I'd also accept a bolt-action mechanism. Still must have a pen-like profile and have a clip though.

I’ve seen novelty letter openers made to look like samurai swords with the sheath. Might be just what you’re looking for?

Not really. Something a bit more traditionally pen-like.

Then how about an exacto knife? They’re not usually bifl but if you’re only opening letters with it then it will be because the blade can dull

That might work. I'd still prefer a traditional letter opener with a long dull blade, but that's not a bad alternative.

They sell different blades to put them on, but regardless it’s super easy to dull a blade yourself

It's more about the length than the sharpness, but you're right.
