I am looking for someone local who might be interested/available/reasonably priced to help with taking some family holiday photos, any recommendations?

If you are looking for something outside (at one of our many beautiful parks, for example) I would check out shoot.com. We have used this site to connect with a local photographer the last two years and the pictures have turned out great. Price is reasonable as well.

I've also had a great experience with Shoot. Photographer was great and the photoshoot itself was free. (You pay for the images you buy).
