I paid $5.20 a gallon in central CT on 11/16. I realized after that another place was $4.60 a gallon. I’ve done my biz with that company for 20 years but not anymore. That difference was $110 for the amount I received. I’ll be checking daily prices for the rest of the winter and keep checking oil prices.

Sadly, loyalty only benefits the seller. Not the buyer.

In most cases if you notify your company (not just limited to oil) they'll price match.

If not, it's easy to jump ship. Most companies know this and will generally work with you especially if you're a long term customer.

I'm willing to bet this is the same company that tried to deliver to me on 11/10 at $5.99 a gallon, lucky I was home to tell him to not.

I could order for 3.89 on purplefuel but this would break my service contract. My usual provider is 4.59. Prob be about $150 difference. There is some peace of mind having the service contract but over the heating season that’s prob $500 difference easily

How is it always worth it? Sounds like it’s clearly not worth it in the above example.

When you furnace shits the bed on New Year’s Day and it’s zero degrees out, having a service contract benefits you. Good luck getting someone to come out when you don’t have a contract with them.

Okay, so it’s worth it in exceedingly rare cases. Sounds like an expensive insurance policy you’ll likely never use.

Just filled up at $3.65 today. I am really pleased with this recent drop in pricing!

McKinley Oil in Cheshire was $3.98 this morning, which is really a decent rate for a local place.

Anything above 2$ is nuts. They make price astronomical and then lower it a little to 4 to make people think they're getting a "good deal" when you're still getting totally screwed

That’s not how any of this works.

Nuh-uh, commodities and goods are valued at what I decide they're valued at and that's the last I'll be hearing out of you about it, mister.
