Has anybody had any luck with a third party electric supplier? I was hoping to save nearly 9c/kWh when electric supply charges skyrocket to 24 cents in Jan, but all I see are a flurry of complaints on the BBB, Trustpilot and various other sources for these companies. Are any of them legitimate, or is it just a giant headache to be avoided and worth it to keep the standard offering?

Constellation and direct energy seem legit enough. There’s only so much these companies can do to screw you over. Especially in CT since there’s no cancellation fees. The worst I could see one of these companies doing is hiking the price up one month without telling you (they shouldn’t based on the contract) so just check your bill every month.

I’d bet the reviews for Eversource are also pretty bad.

You literally never have to deal with them. Eversource is still the the person you call with issues. They just give the energy to eversource on your behalf.
