For homeowners in Norwalk…how much can I expect my home to appreciate based on the past? What has your experience been with your home’s appreciation?
I have a multi fam house in the 06854 area.
Just in general the value of homes.
My house has increased about 160k since 2019, give or take. It depends on location, access too SoNo, train, water views, etc. I can walk less than one minute and see houses over a million but my street is solidly middle class-ish

Anecdotal data will be of little utility. If you were expecting the people of reddit to be able to predict housing prices I think you are sorely over estimating the power of the crowd. The suggestion to go to Zillow and take a sample of home prices is a good one. Make sure you grab enough houses that are similar to the one you were trying to compare to to get a decent representative sample size, at least 15 or 20.
I was looking to hear some stories from people about how their homes have appreciated over the years. Maybe some insight about if people are flocking to Norwalk, any info on anything in the works about venues that may attract more people…stuff like that. I know no one can predict I’m just looking for insight.
Yeah, I bought property in SONO 16 years ago because a development was starting next door with residential, commercial, street level retail, and a park. The city gave the developer such a hard time that they sold the property and it sat vacant for years...now it's a mall.
My point is it's a bit difficult to predict. You may want to look at the city's Facebook page and also search for other "Norwalk" FB pages. There are a few that cover Norwalk news and upcoming developments and projects.
Property value in Norwalk have dropped since that hate crime was committed at the gay bar. Sell now.

The one on Wall Street I am assuming. I love where I am in East Norwalk I also plan on staying here for a while.
I googled it. Crime in Norwalk is nothing new def no reason for anyone to panic sell.

Are you asking about property taxes or just in general? I believe the city is due for a reassessment this year and yes your assessment value will definitely be up a considerable amount (2018) so I’d expect your taxes to rise.
Parallel to that, Norwalk has grown in popularity becoming a more affordable Stamford with similar amenities and a lot to do.
