Hey y’all, I’m trying to figure out the correct orientation for some shelf brackets for those wall cat trees. The brackets themselves are asymmetrical like a real ‘L’ with a diagonal brace. My question is, should the long side be under the shelf or against the wall?

I’ve done some searching and am finding mixed answers and even did some testing with my actual cats on the shelves. Results were inconclusive so I was hoping someone would have an more educated answer. I appreciate your help.

The long side against the wall. If you put it under the shelf you're making greater leverage pulling the shelf off the wall, if you stand anything on the edge of the shelf

If it’s for a cat you will probably be good either way
