I've actually did this in a bathroom, we were there for 4yrs and never had a problem with the film.

That’s awesome, we’ve been thinking about moving the tub and shower to by the window. Where was the shower located with yours?

It was by the toilet and the tub/shower was across from that. It never received direct water but it did get a lot of moisture.

It’s what I’m most worried about, we have to replace all the windows from our 50s era house. So it’s getting switched anyhow, but he’s envisioning the tub on the north wall with the window. It currently has the obscuring glass in the bottom, but I don’t like it very much. I haven’t seen much on how definitely water proof the film is. Which is what worries me the most if I go down this route. It sounds like it worked well for you though, thank you!

The film is ok and there are a lot of patterns available.

An alternative would be to find a hanging piece and have someone make a sash for it. That could be significantly less expensive than having a custom piece made.

Looking at putting a sash on a piece briefly, I do like that idea. I do have this grand vision of a huge beautiful window though. I’m realizing I may have to adjust it now.

I've used window film in many houses/rentals. (I like the foggy-looking kind but also have some striped varieties of window film). Moisture has not been an issue for the film at all, just be sure to apply it to a CLEAN window surface and use a spray bottle (and maybe a squeegee) to get all the air bubbles out upon installation. It can be a pain to trim so be sure to use a sharp razor blade.
