I'm so fucking tired of seeing the name Yosemite in this sub and yet every new angle on it is like seeing nature's load screen for the very first time.

Neeeechy t1_jdbkamt wrote

I mean I wouldn't exactly consider Valley View to be a new angle. Regardless, this is still a wonderful shot with great weather conditions and decent post-processing.

Haha, whatever I may spout off this is a beautiful shot of a beautiful place.

I'm camping there (not in the park because I couldn't get a spot) for my first time in late May. I hope the snow mostly melts by then!

VexMediaPhoto OP t1_jdafd5a wrote

I don't know much about how the snow hangs around there but they got record amounts, enough to close the park not long ago. Hopefully it is at least more manageable for ya when you go! Good luck!

Neeeechy t1_jdbke7m wrote

Other than along the north-facing walls and along shaded river banks, the snow doesn't generally hang out for too long in the valley given it's not all that high in elevation.

riddlegirl21 t1_jdbsd70 wrote

*enough to completely close the park at the end of February and keep it closed until last weekend, when it partially reopened with limited roads. Be safe, the snow will melt and swell the creeks!

nokstar t1_jdcgjjv wrote

Given this winter season, itโ€™s going gorgeous. All the falls, lakes and rivers will be flowing full. Expect a lot of closures due to excessive water / snow. Also expect a slightly busier than normal season. Overall, you got quite the epic trip coming up, super stoked for you!

Where are yโ€™all staying? My group was slow on the uptick, so weโ€™re just doing lodging right now.

Hope it doesn't, and when you're camping it drops a couple of inches. it's beautiful....

awww, thank you! Yea it is hard to get something fresh out of such a photographed place. Some things I got for myself and others I thought were share worthy.

DanimusMcSassypants t1_jday5jd wrote

It is a genuinely magical place. Great photo!

4

VexMediaPhoto OP t1_jdba3gr wrote

Thank you! It really is. In the vlog I posted (link in my profile) I said this place is like somewhere out of a video game/fantasy book.

Which day was this? My sister was there on 3//21 and it was pretty foggy and a lot of snow had melted

This is stunning. Though I live in the Northeast, I donโ€™t like the cold, but images like this remind of me how beautiful winter can be. Thanks for sharing.

3

VexMediaPhoto OP t1_jdba8nq wrote

Iโ€™m also from the northeast and itโ€™s similar but with stunning vistas all around you

akmjolnir t1_jdcxfhm wrote

I visited the park almost 10 years ago, and felt like I only experienced 2% of it. I'd really like to go back with a lot more time to spend exploring.

3

VexMediaPhoto OP t1_jdcxvk6 wrote

Same! It took me a while to realize that the valley is only a small part of the whole park!

2

akmjolnir t1_jdcycup wrote

The last day I was there they opened the gate to Tioga Rd., and I was one of the first people to make it up to Tenaya Lake and Lembert Dome, and had them mostly to myself.

SamAreAye t1_jdd5nrn wrote

I lived there for 12 years and feel the same way.

Is this today? What parts of the park are accessible?

2

VexMediaPhoto OP t1_jdctveu wrote

No, this was the Feb 22. Apparently the park is open with limited road access.

Wow, this photo of Yosemite National Park is absolutely stunning! The details and colors captured in this high-resolution image are breathtaking. I love how the mountains and trees create a natural frame around the valley below. It's amazing how a single photo can make me feel so small and insignificant compared to the grandeur of nature. Thanks for sharing this amazing shot!

Live close enough but scared to visit in winter. You can get stranded and the roads are narrow as hell. Still my 2nd favorite place on earth besides Redwoods of NorCal

2

VexMediaPhoto OP t1_jdg9bg8 wrote

Redwoods is the next adventure! I was actually supposed to go to Sequoia after I left but the same snow that shut down Yosemite was also coming for Sequoia too. ๐Ÿ˜ž
