What causes the lake to be that color and opaque?

Always amazes me 95 percent of people stopping at the lake and not keep going up to the peak or at least as close as they feel comfortable. The real journey begins at the lake .

I need to remind myself to visit this place the next time I travel to British Columbia. Never been here before.
