Hi everyone! My fiancé and I are going to a show at the Funny Bone in Manchester in February. We would like to grab a nice dinner and drinks before the show. I don’t know the area so am looking for hotel and restaurant recommendations. Would prefer the hotel have bars and restaurants nearby. We don’t mind taking an Uber to the show if there is more to do in Hartford. Any and all suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

Funny Bone is in the mall, which is surrounded by restaurants. There is also Maggie McFly's in the mall, which is a great spot for food.

There is a Courtyard Marriot and, I believe, a Fairfield Inn right across the street from the mall.

Honestly, a quick Google maps search should reveal how uncomplicated your situation is.

Sawadee Thai down the road has some of the best green curry and the rest of the food is great as well

Manchester is less than a 20 minute drive from Hartford. They serve dinner at the comedy club.

Mulberry Street Pizza is about 10 minutes away from the Funny Bone and is some excellent pizza in Manchester. Lucky Taco is also another of my favorites in town, and right next to Urban Lodge Brewery. These are all on Main Street in Manchester.

Hartford has some good options: Max Downtown, Trumbull Kitchen, Fang's, Republic at Linden (really good). Also, Little River Restoratives is a, not-too-well-hidden gem for drinks, I love that place

Fyi: in case it wasn't evident, the Funny Bone isn't in Hartford. It's two quick towns over.

Source: I work in Hartford and live in Manchester

Keep in mind i went last winter but I would not suggest eating at the Funny Bone. More than half of the audience did not recieve their food. I believe this was due to staff shortages. Hopefully this has changed but I'd err on the side of cation. There is a great selection of restaurants in the area. Enjoy the show, I had a great time despite the mentioned issue.

Definitely don’t eat at the funny bone. The food is garbage, and you and your fiancé will spend the rest of the night taking turns on the toilet instead of each other.

That being said, there are some fine restaurants in the area. If you’re into craft beer Elicit Brewery is down the street and has both excellent food and excellent craft beer. This would be my first choice, if it were me.

If you’re looking for additional entertainment Dave and busters is right there, which can be fun and different (but expensive)

Someone else here said “Maggy Mcflys” - don’t eat there. It’s like second rate Cheesecake Factory. The menu is like 37 pages long. I did restaurant work for 15 years and I can tell you with a menu like that, not everything is fresh. The service is iffy because who can remember what’s in 2073 different options. I’ve been a couple of times and the server had to go ask someone else the answer to every question I had - which was basic stuff - again, I’m a restaurant dude and I’m not looking to complicate peoples lives, I just wanted to know what I was eating.

There’s another brewery there called “BJ’s” - I’ve never been there personally, but I’m always surprised by how many cars are in the lot, so it’s probably fairly decent.

Lastly, if you’re looking for upscale, fine dining type atmosphere, there is Mill on the River or Burtons in South Windsor. Both are proximal to the comedy club and have classier environments if that’s what you’re after.

Good luck.

Make sure you eat before you get to the funny bone. If you get your food, it might be the wrong order. But the drinks and comedians are great.
