Good day everyone!
My name is Alex Gibson. I am an Assistant Director and Background Coordinator in the Canadian Film Industry (Hollywood North). I've worked on shows such as The Stand, Lost in Space, Peacemaker, Shogun, Pachinko, Motherland, Spiderwick Chronicles, Yellow Jackets, and currently an unreleased Apple + TV Series.
I've had the pleasure of working with actors such as Alexander Skarsgard, James Marsden, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, the entire Lost in Space cast, and many others. I've also worked with Amber Heard and Ezra Miller on the same show.
I would love to offer everyone a chance to ask questions about the film industry, why decisions are made to do certain things, how the crew operate and work, which departments do what jobs, and anything else curious people might want to inquire about. So here is my Ask Me Anything page and I'd be happy to share some knowledge.

Hi, Alex, thanks for taking the time to speak with us!
I’m a recent transplant to Vancouver, and I’ve been playing with the idea of getting back into the entertainment industry full-time. There’s only one problem: I’m a writer first and foremost, and I’ve heard the rumor – which may or may not have been accurate – that most local productions of any real note are actually written in Hollywood.
The strange thing is that I’ve also heard that a sizable chunk of what gets broadcast in Canada needs to have been produced here… which brings me to my questions:
