We saw this option when ordering our king sized bed frame. To me, the risk of getting a king sized 100lb bedframe once a month far outweighed the benefit of getting a discount.

I rarely see considerable discounts on Amazon subscriptions? Usually 5-15%. This sounds a bit over exaggerated to me.

The standard subscription discount is 5-15% (depending on total subscriptions), but there are quite a few of promos recently for 15-35% off your FIRST subscription. It might not be as prevalent as OP is implying, but they aren’t uncommon.

EDIT: I mean I assume that the seller is the one who sets the discount price for subscription, and I bet they did that based off of what they would benefit for further purchases. Not everyone selling on Amazon IS amazon.

That being said I have no idea how it works. Its possible that amazon reimburses the discount amount to the seller if the customer cancels like OP is doing, but I doubt it.

Edit for ShadeBaron Cause OP blocked me: Unethical does not mean prohibited or illegal. Many things can be unethical without being illegal or prohibited, and likewise something can be ethical despite actually being illegal.

Also I want to point out that I was not suggesting that it is for sure unethical, just was opening it up for discussion. For instance using a trial with 1 month free and cancelling after the first month, I do not see that to be unethical, and I can see how this can be a similar idea. And I do not think there is a situation where they would ever discount it so much so that they are losing money, considering the discount is applied to every order they would never make money off of you.

The subscription is not easy to cancel. It’s buried deep in there. Definitely hunting around around awhile canceling my father’s. They might have changed it in the last year for transparency sake, though because I haven’t done it recently

Using the Amazon app makes it easy to locate. On the home page, click the three bars in the lower right corner - your shortcuts, including Subscribe & Save, are in the lower portion of the screen that opens.

I do this at Petco. You get up to 50% off dog food with your first repeat delivery. I get it, set it for 12 months out, and cancel it a few days later. Got the food half off. Best part is it's Everytime you sign up for repeat delivery, so I get 50% off every time

If you do this often enough, amazon stops giving you the discounts on items. I learned this the hard way.

Nonetheless, it still gives free shipping if you don't have prime.

I don't go on amazon to buy stuff that I need a few months off, the 2 day shipping is the best reason to order stuff on amazon.

the "months off" are for the future deliveries, you get the 1st delivery 2-days (or 1)
