[LPT Request] does anyone have a life hack for keeping track of things that you are waiting on that might take a while to get back to you? like sending in something for repair to a company and their time frame is 6 weeks?

I'm also a little paranoid that for example I'll be waiting on a $2,000 reimbursement and I'll end up in the hospital or something. What's a good way for someone who is taking care of stuff for you to know that hey there is this important thing that is coming in?

If you're regularly on any phone or computer, use Google Calendar. It will send alerts a few days before whatever event you want to be reminded of.

I will typically set a reminder for a week or two before to follow up.

If you use Gmail you can schedule an email to yourself. I'll do this when I sign up for a free trial of something that I know I want to cancel before I have to start paying. I'll schedule the email for five days and say "cancel prime" or something like that.

My phone literally has a "reminder app" built in (Samsung) I use it for daily reminders, and things like you mentioned.

Google also has similar things. If you have a Google account and google devices you can literally just say "hey google remind me in 21 days to follow up on the repair for _________ at 10 AM".

These devices have helped me from forgetting some important things over the years.

Couple ways I can think of including creating a new Gmail account and just putting those upcoming dates in the calendar app and asking the program to send you either an email or text reminder. You could also do this with your existing email accounts and I can say for certain that Google has a calendar component to it.

They second part of your question is why I thought you should set up a separate account because in order for someone to access your digital Google Caledar in your doomsday scenario you will be giving them access to all of the projects in the Google suite of apps. So if you need to separate work from play, so to speak just make a new one and use it exclusively for the calendar and just hand out that email address to anyone you never want to hear from again.
