Trivia: “Roan” refers to a horse with a speckled or “salt and pepper” coat.

Love going there when I'm on the island, always makes me sad in a way a human cemetery doesn't. Baxter sure loved his pets.

No doubt there are Natives buried on the island. They’d canoe down from Sebago in the summer. There’s a large boulder indented for grinding corn (just off a road near the school- not public)

You all know about the creepy fucking history of that island?

Yep. Decades of child abuse took place at the Baxter School for the Deaf, which was located on Mackworth. The island is beautiful, and that part of its history is horrifying.

I was bummed to see that you it was in disrepair when I checked it out this summer. They need to fix the fence and some stones were broken
