Took the plunge in buying my first proper keyboard, the QK75. It arrives today and I am nauseated at thinking about assembling it and messing up.

On YouTube I haven't been able to find a really comprehensive build guide. None that feature commentary and in depth instructions on assembly. Does anyone know of a resource that exists like that?

Just looked at that kit. Nothing crazy going on there, and it’s pretty difficult to mess these up, so I wouldn’t stress.

Did you get a hotswap PCB?

The only part that might be strange for a first timer is soldering switches (which you will only need to do if you did NOT get a hotswap PCB) and lubing your stabilizers and switches. Lubing your stabilizers and switches are optional but highly recommended. The best videos on those two processes are definitely Taeha Types’ videos, and he is very thorough with his descriptions and video demonstrations.

It might help to know what you’re actually doing on each step in this video, and why. If you really still feel like you need a helping hand, I’m willing to hop on a Discord call to walk you through it.

Most keyboards are a “you do it once and you know it forever” type of deal. I wouldn’t be so stressed about it. It is just a keyboard in the end.

Qwertykeys published its own build guide for the QK75, which is what I used when I built mine. I tried to post the link but the Auto Mod bot deleted my post. If you google "QK75 build guide" you can find it.

Just use youtube. But all kits should have a build guide created by the makers. Try asking for it on their discord or look on the GB sale site for a tutorial link.

It makes me sad realizing people just dont turn to the same goats of this hobby anymore. I feel like names like Alexotos and Taeha are being said less and less often which is a shame. They build this community and still have some of the best tutorials out there to learn with.

Don't be afraid and take the dive. Always rmb you can just reverse the step you took even soldering tbh. You can try qwertykeys discord for advice. Many ppl have alr built their qk75 and would be willing to help. If you are still afraid, you could get a budget 75 board and work on that first. Take it as a gift to somebody special 😄
