When did you start stealing music off the internet?

Somewhere around 1998 for me. I did it long before it became popular. Or really thought of as theft by most people. We didn't pay for music then except in the stores.

Newsgroups were an excellent source. High def formats like APE and FLAC.

Back before it was stealing it was peer to peer sharing. But since that got shut down I bought one CD back in 2002 or some year around there.

My town got a proper ISP in 1994, that's about the time I started. I don't even remember the format the music was in, this was before MP3s, but it didn't sound great. Shit I might have just been listening to MIDIs for all I can remember.
