I am almost certain he has seen some crap. He had to of. I recall my madrè telling me, he used to be quite the heavy drinker. And that he —unfortunately— beat my grandma whom passed away before I was born, in front of my dad and 4 uncles. My dad was like 6 at the time and was frightened, rightfully so, ran under his bed and was bawling. Afterwards, she came in and told him NEVER lay hands on a women.
I can’t fathom that sort of trauma he went through. Fortunately for me, although my parents are divorced, my dad never ever did. My dad owns his own business with 3 out of my 6 older brothers working for him, myself included. I’m grateful my dad is here for me, and still part of my life.

Aw man, sorry to hear about that, and what your grandfather turned into. I've read stories about how countless World War II and Korea veterans struggled for years with inadequate mental help (even though thankfully a lot of them did not become violent). Some would literally wake up screaming and sobbing from PTSD, their only hope being a supportive family. War does absolutely horrific things to human beings.
