The car is a 1973 Dodge Dart. (Maybe 1972?)
Very cool photo, I'm glad you were able to find that connection!

That style Maryland plate was issued from 1975 to 1980, if the serial is red, or 1980 to 1986, if the serial is black. The serial looks black to me.
There is a revalidation sticker on the plate so that cuts out the first year in each range and the space between the letters and numbers is not as wide as used for the 86 plate.
So my guess for the year of the photo is between 1981 and 1985 but it could be between 1976 and 1980.

Great analysis. Curiously, I’m seeing red in the serial.

Yeah the Dart has gotta be one of those two years, the later Dart Swinger years.

I only found my biological father a little over two years ago and he sent me a photo of my grandmother. She passed before I ever had the chance to meet her. Its incredibly eerie how even though I never knew her, or my bio dad, I apparently share A LOT of personality traits with them. Really wish I could have met her but I am at least finding out things about my biological fathers side of the family. (especially important for medical history) In any case, I love this photo :)
