I applied for a core position at Nordstrom, and instead got bait and switched with a seasonal position. The only difference between the two is PTO and insurance. Also, I assume the core position would receive unemployment if fired. We were supposed to receive a sign on bonus of $500. Word around the warehouse is we will not receive it until 30 days of employment. To me that seems like a bonus and not a sign on bonus? Also, we are tracked on productivity after two weeks. My suspicion is that most people will be fired before they can reach the 30 days. The worker with the highest productivity in the department of probably at least 30 people had a score of 85, but the average was around a 50.Myself and the other new workers are expected to reach a productivity of 70 in eight weeks. That seems very unattainable? Will they use this unattainable productivity as justification to fire the seasonal workers once they are caught up on work. Right now they are behind on their work. I am just wondering if anyone here has worked at Nordstrom as a seasonal or core worker before and what their experience was like working for the company. I am a little conflicted right now if I want to work for this company or try to find employment elsewhere.

Any company that would promise you one set of terms and then turn around and give you something that wasn’t agreed upon is a red flag.
