Hey all,

Before lockdowns occurred, I had read an article (circa 2019) that claimed/stated someone had or was planning to purchase the Distelfink restaurant near Gettysburg with plans to reopen as an ice cream parlor instead of a full fledged restaurant. Has anyone heard or seen anything about any possible revamping concerning it recently?

gettysburg resident here. supposedly they’re set to open in spring of 2023? i’m very curious as well since i haven’t heard anything about it since 2019. i haven’t been by there lately so i don’t have any first hand knowledge on the progress being made towards reopening.

They'll have to do a lot more work on that property if they are to open in 2023. Last time I went past, it looked no different than it has the past 2 - 3 years. Looks like it turned into a money pit for the Stremmels. Unfortunate timing but they were slow getting going after buying the place.

Yeah, I haven’t been out there for a few years but I didn’t hear a peep about it after lockdown, so I was wondering if all of that had put a wrench in something.

I heard from a longstanding business owner in Gettysburg that the guy who bought the property just flat-out ran out of money. I heard this like 3 months ago.

My husband died in 2018. But I recall in like 2015 I think, we drove allll of the way out there and were super excited to eat there as it had been a few years. We were both dumbfounded And disappointed when we got there and it was a ghost town.
