This is a somewhat broad question directed at anyone living here in Rhode lsland, specifically artists who happen to be reading this post. As the title states, are there any good places for an adult such as myself to pick up drawing lessons (not painting)? Somewhere where l can interact and engage with other people, like the creative equivalent of a gym or a fitness class?

Whatever the case, any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

They used to offer $5 live drawing sessions every Monday night -- no instruction, just the model and set up. This was years ago though. OP, call and find out if they're still doing it.

AS220 doesn't currently offer drawing classes, but their workshops are definitely the atmosphere you're looking for. You can become a member there and book studio time once you're familiar with how to use the space and tools. They also have a restaurant, gallery spaces with rotating shows, and a black box theater.

Why would I want to book a studio if I'm only looking for classes? And this seems geared toward younger, college aged people rather than older adults.

I’m over 30 and have taken classes there. I certainly wasn’t the only one either. I mentioned the studio time & other things because you seemed to want to socialize as well, getting more involved in an artistic community is a way to do that. Sorry for responding to your question, I definitely won’t do it again.

I was only asking for clarification, nothing to get offended over. Its just a comment, I meant no disrespect.

Okay fair enough. It’s difficult to read tone in text. No hard feelings.
