Nah man, kids today that never experienced dial-up internet in the 90's will ever relate. When the norm was waiting until you go to bed to start that download and then hoping your connection would hold out through the night? Nope, they'll never truly appreciate what slow is.

Waiting 5 minutes for half a photo of the map to ocarina of time to load just for someone to pick up the phone and try and call someone.

This is a friendly reminder to read our rules.

Remember, /r/Showerthoughts is for showerthoughts, not "thoughts had in the shower!"

(For an explanation of what a "showerthought" is, please read this page.)

Ah yes.

I remember when windows xp was first pirated and back when files were a rar file split into hundreds of parts. My mates and I would all use the glorious GetRight application to download 3.5Mb files slowly over dial up until we all had all the files downloaded so we could combine them for the rar file to successfully be able to extract.

Took weeks to download enough for a writable cd worth.

This was pre service pack xp too. This also reminds me of how many times I had to format due to all the damned worms that got picked up for just sniffing on the net.
