Lucky Dog is great. Another that is not that close (upper Westchester) but I would also recommend is A Good Dog Rescue in Verplanck. We got our rescue there and they’re amazing. The woman that owns it is so kind.

Whoever you go with, just FYI you’ll most likely have to get set up with a vet beforehand, so I’d call around and see who is accepting new patients/clients.

Lucky dog was the easiest pet rescue/adoption place we worked with! Also very local on Pulaski st downtown.

Lucky Dog uses VCA Darien. They can just roll you in if you don't have a vet already.

Big fan of Danbury animal welfare society (DAWS.org).

In addition to DAWS, checkout the Connecticut Humane Society in Westport. We adopted our dog from there and had a great experience.

Stamford animal control and most of the awesome rescues in the area (mentioned in previous posts so won’t repeat) list their available dogs, many of which are in fosters, on Petfinder - you can sort by distance / breed / age and get all the info for the shelter or rescue.
