I turn on the audiobook version and read along with it when i’m having trouble focusing. Obviously that’s a luxury and not available for all books (like your textbooks) but wanted to share that it’s really helped me.

So as a fellow ADHD sufferer... I find that if it is something I have to read and completely not interested in but have to I will do it in segments... from a paragraph to a page at a time.

If it is something I enjoy like fictional novels I usually don't have that problem. However if it is losing me I will do the same tactic.

I found this method works for a lot of things especially homework.

Instead of 1hr of work and a 10min break I do 10mins of work and take a small break of like 2-5mins and continue to do this until my total work time is 1hr. Granted yes my 1 hr is actually like 1.5-2hrs total but the 1 hr of total work IS in fact done.

Can you read a piece of fiction that you want to read and tell us what it's like for you? I'm interested.

I too find non-fiction disengaging, despite my zealous interest in it.

Hi there. This subject has been very popular in the past. Please use reddit search and/or check the /r/books/wiki/faq.

Try reading the final chapter then either work backwards by chapters or come back to the start. Counter intuitive but all life with ADHD is.
