Hi All,

Kinda weird question but on the commute home(4pm-5pm) did anyone see a plastic barrel rolling around the lanes today? I hit it and it fucked up my car so I was curious if anyone else saw it/had a dash cam that saw it?

Thanks!

When you file with insurance, make sure you mention that the barrel was in motion when you hit it. It rolled out from behind something and before you could take evasive action it impacted your car. You didn't hit the barrel, the barrel hit you. Or at least that's what I'm understanding from your post.

This is very important information when you file an insurance claim, that the barrel was in motion.

Thanks for the info! Ya the barrel was in motion when it hit me, my guess is that a few cars in front of me struck it.

its live or die out there on the roads. Nothing more Boston than hitting a random barrel rolling around in the lanes and getting yelled by passerby's for having your hazards on when trying to check to see if your car is still drive-able...

Same thing happened to me on 93 North near Assembly a couple years ago, except it was a traffic cone that the van in front of me ran over and sent hurtling towards my car. Fucked up my bumper pretty bad.

The year before that some kind of desk/drawer was in the road under a broken street light, around a curve in the road, also on 93 North near Assembly. That one popped my tire and destroyed my bumper.

And just last night, on Route 18 in Weymouth, some sharp object I didn't see instantly popped my tire and scraped two gouges out of my door.

Oh, the joys of driving in and around Boston!

We have a state-of-the-art, world class subway system and intricate network of bicycle infrastructure, why are you driving?

An FYI....no idea if it would've helped in your situation, but, a feature in the app called Waze let's people report "objects on the road". It has helped me dodge all sorts of things. Might help you in the future.
