It is a photographic process from the 1850s, essentially making a piece of film on a metal plate.

Idk why you got downvoted lol. I have a friend who makes these, and I still don't understand how they work. Would love to see an explanation! I know it's an old photography technique, but I don't know any technical details about the process.

Yeah, the base image is a tintype I made. I then colorized the scan.
