Why is it measured in marker cap, not renewable energy generated per year?
EspHack t1_irzk0u5 wrote
how dare you suggest using boring numbers grounded in reality!?
how would you gamble with such measurements? I bet they wont go up forever

I'm pretty sure "EDP renovaveis" is Portuguese, not Spanish
almightygarlicdoggo t1_irvgpwr wrote
It's Portuguese, but it's registered in Oviedo (Spain) and has its headquarters in Madrid (Spain)
Its parent company EDP operates in Portugal, however EDP Renováveis basically operates as a Spanish company

So... The same way FAANG companies are all Irish?

So EDPR NA is itself a subsidiary, of the Oviedo subsidiary, belonging to… EDPR registered in Lisbon ?

Market cap is not a good measure , adani green is a huge bubble propped by speculation and market manipulation
Total installed capacity would be cool
arctellionweston t1_is4i7mh wrote
I have to agree. Installed Capacity or Generated Green Electricity would be better measures. Do companies with Biomass, Energy from Waste and other green electricity production count in these companies portfolios, or are they as a lot of green energy just solar and wind?

Adani and Brookfield continue to expand both fossil fuels and renewables in their portfolios. I am sure many of these other companies are doing the same
They aren't "good guys"

Why is this missing Enel Green Power with a Market Cap of 9.45 Bio?
DramaticSimple4315 t1_irwulk9 wrote
1/ Market cap has nothing to do with how large a company is, especially in a fledging sector like this one
2/ To focus on market cap means that any private company will get cut out of the ranking
So the metric used is absolutely not relevant and dull

Whatever good is done by Adani Green is dwarfed by emission of other arms of the corporation - coal mining and power generation

It always makes me annoyed that nuclear power is green as fuck but not renewable, so it gets cut out.

Bit of a misleading graph. Approximately 41% of NextEra Energy's generating capacity was still from fossil fuels and non-renewables.
