yeah and the price is quite competitive as well.

I was going to come in here and say "just buy a steamdeck" but after looking at the specs, it's interesting.
It even looks like it comes with a mic plug.
I wonder who the market for this is though? Most of gamers would just build a normal sized PC, or get a gaming laptop, or a steamdeck.

Throw SteakOS on it, put it in the living room next to your TV. Congratulations, now you own a Steam Console, with free cross-save to your PC and deck.

I don’t have the money but it’s exactly what someone like me would love to have: something good enough to play the shitty games I like (mainly AOE2) but which looks great and isn’t a huge monster case and could work as a main computer for the basic things I do.
GivesBadAdvic t1_j84ipvh wrote
It could be a cool travel PC. Go on a vacation and have a gaming PC for the hotel room.

I can see this being appealing for budding gamers

People that want a smaller machine. Powerful performance in a incredibly tiny form factor. As someone that’s tired of the midsize tower sitting on the floor next to me I can see the appeal.
dachsj t1_j84gtuk wrote
That was one of think I thought but I imagine it's fairly loud with just two fans. If it's quiet, I can see the appeal. If it sounds like a jet engine, it would lose some "desktop" / htpc appeal.

The initial reviews I’ve read state it’s incredibly quiet even at full load.

How does one grow tired of this?

Crappy desk layout. My office has a long “custom” multi station desk and each station has a certain amount of leg room for chair etc. The compact mid tower shares that space. It gets to feel intrusive and “in the way”. Yep that’s no fault of the tower at all (and a desk problem and not a computer problem) but there’s many times I wish I could just get rid of the box down by my feet and put a tiny one behind my monitors.

I’ve been wanting to bring my PC gaming into the living room area so I can spend more time there. My wife does crafts in that area and we have a baby now, so if I wanted to play a game on PC, she would absolutely have no problem, but I just don’t find the idea of sitting alone like that so appealing at the moment. This could be the the thing I’ve been needing. Long way to say an answer to you question of who this markets to lol

I've been here for about 12 years. Silverstone used to make a matx case that fits fairly well in my av cabinet with my Denon AV receiver and some other toys. When my wife and I moved in to our house I quickly realized it was way too small for me to have a workstation so I refactored with the goal of fitting in with the aesthic. I'm not sure how kosher links to new egg are so I'll just say Google silverstone htpc cases and you get a pretty good idea of my case.

Makes sense for kids that want to game. It’s also fairly small and can be concealed on a wall mounted workstation.
