New Sennheiser HD 600

Is the new Sennheiser HD 600 the best headphone for bringing out male vocals? and how does it compare to the old ones? does it sound the same and how is the build quality considering it's made in Romania and not in Ireland?

The same, except for some superficial differences in appearance.

Only cosmetic differences. Obviously pad wear will change the sound a bit and individual units vary slightly so you can find plenty of people saying "hey this sounds different" but I've seen no evidence there's systematic sound quality differences between them beyond wear/unit variation factors.

When did this manufacturing change occur? My trusty pair of HD600's from 2016 are holding up nicely but was thinking of getting a backup

The new one's construction feels cheaper (as is the packaging), but the sound is practically identical to what I recall with the old counter top HD600 I used to have. Comparing to what I physically do have now, it is as expected, within range of the HD580 Precision and HD6XX.

Vocal-wise, they are some of the best balanced, for sure - fully present without being harsh or piercing, nor are they muffled or nasal. Changing manufacturing locations hasn't diminished this aspect at all, in my opinion.

Do you think the headphone will hold up well given their poor packaging? (very long distance, possibly the box is gonna get dropped several times)

I can throw my HD600s on the floor and they'll hold up just fine.

the build is not very "premium" but they are not delicate or fragile.

Considering mine (and many others) came from Romania to the US, got stacked in one of Amazon's many warehouses, probably got shifted around several times, then went through the courier shipping process to finally deliver to me - and they still arrived in brand new condition...

I wouldn't worry about it.
