Wanted to share w/ everyone a pair of comically-bad knockoff Airpods Max vs a real pair. I ordered the fake ones since they were listed a "new" from a seller with 9 ratings, all positive, 3 years on eBay.
Right out of the gate Apple flagged it as a fake on my phone. But that wasn't needed since it was blatantly obvious w/ the physical attributes: plastic ear cups, ugly lines, cheap clicky button and crown. There was no serial number inscription on the real headphones, and the box didn't even have Apple's real font. Anyways, happy that eBay has buyer protection, just sucks that I wasted time and energy on returning these.
I actually did manage to connect them to my phone for kicks; as expected they sounded worse than the trash you could buy at a rest stop for $20.

The extent people will go to make a buck. It can’t be cheap making those knockoffs. And how many actually sell? Doesn’t seem profitable enough. Glad you can return them.
