I plan to buy an iPhone 14 today but am split between the pro and pro max. I’ll buy whichever has the better camera set up and specs.

That’s odd. What are you using? Constant high brightness, AOD, constant camera use can hit the battery hard. I’m a heavy user and this phone easily lasts me all day, best battery life I’ve had on a phone and I get as much as two days with moderate use.
notthatinnocent69 t1_j9uiim3 wrote
yeah im a super heavy user and ive never had to charge the pro max during the day yet
PeanutButterChicken t1_j9wh295 wrote
This comment never makes sense to me. The 14 Pro Max, with no use at all will be dead by 6pm if I don’t charge it. Standby is awful on this thing
mrchumblie t1_j9wrehl wrote
That isn’t right, there’s probably something wrong the phone or some background apps that are eating into your battery.
Lurknspray2018 t1_j9x5csw wrote
Try a simple fix? Reset the phone completely, only install what you use on a daily basis and see if it makes a difference? The 14 pm really does not need baby sitting in regards to battery life
Kees_Kip t1_j9wjp9f wrote
You probably use that retarded Always on Display.
AppointmentNeat t1_j9uilhb wrote
I actually turned off AOD along with other features. I’ve only used the camera maybe 3 times (I’m not a big camera person and don’t take pictures at all)
Went to work with 100% battery and left with 70%
Thing is, I barely used my phone because I was at work. Occasional messages, checked emails, a few phone calls and that was about it. I used it for basic stuff and I lost 30% within a 8 hour shift.
TWYFAN97 t1_j9ujkv1 wrote
See what’s using the battery in the background could be an app issue, otherwise may be hardware related then.
AppointmentNeat t1_j9ukayo wrote
I’ll look into it.
I’ve watched a few YouTube videos and read a few posts about people having issues with the battery life.
FalseEvidence t1_j9up46n wrote
Tbh I feel it’s about the same as the 13 PM or maybe even slightly worse. AOD definitely takes a toll, so maybe just turn it off.

Yes only the 12 pro and 12 pro max had different sensors afaik.

Get the pro Max for the battery
hanging_chadz t1_j9vmdrl wrote
That's why I got the Max. It's ridiculously good. Especially coming from an 11 Pro with 74% battery health, I usually couldn't make it through the day without charging a bit. With pretty heavy use, my 14 Max is right around 50% at the end of the day.
Cryptic_Nerd01 t1_j9vpwp0 wrote
same. I came from an 8 Plus with 78% battery health. before I lasted maybe 5 hours max from 100%, now I wake up at 6:30 AM and by midnight my phone battery is only on 20-25%
Cuber_Juuler t1_j9wr5d2 wrote
Same.
PandaTurtleShell t1_j9uv6f7 wrote
Just throwing my 2 cents in. The pro is a the way to go. It’s size isn’t outlandish and you get the same specs and camera
gus2155 t1_j9w5kwi wrote
That's exactly what I did. The max felt absolutely humongous for me.
Cuber_Juuler t1_j9wr7b3 wrote
It fits me perfect but I still want the smaller one instead
NexiNext t1_j9vr90l wrote
Correct they are not like the 12pro and max. With different cameras. 14 pm and pro are identical in cameras.
TitusImmortalis t1_j9wmahx wrote
The 12 pro and pro max all have same cameras, I thought
mrchumblie t1_j9wrqbo wrote
The 12 pro max had some extra camera stabilization features I think.

So, slight differences in 2 of the cameras, it seems.

Why am I getting downvoted?!?! I am so confused. I get that this is Reddit but these are not only pulled directly from GSMArena but they ALSO show that I was indeed incorrect.....
NexiNext t1_j9xt9ws wrote
Nope. Even up close and personal the 12 pm has bigger cameras then the 12 pro. The 13pro and 13 pro max are the same as is the 14pro and 14 pro max.
TitusImmortalis t1_j9yy4qz wrote
I commented already with the specs between the cameras, and the size isn't that much of a difference, but there is a difference which I acknowledged.
Froyo_Muted t1_j9yu3cr wrote
Unless you need the battery life as a heavy user, the pro will be more than enough as your daily driver. Portability and usability are two things people don’t think about too much when they’re buying a shiny, new toy. Whatever you choose though, ignore the haters and know you are getting a great device that will serve you for many years. Enjoy!

Personally if you’re willing to get a regular 14 just get a 13 for cheaper.
RandomZorel t1_j9uc1m7 wrote

TWYFAN97 t1_j9u4duu wrote
Besides size and battery life the 14 Pro and Pro Max have the same overall specs and cameras.
