Detect iPhone users nearby

So I live on an acre block of land, and early this morning I caught a few people trying to steal my boat. Lucky I heard them and scared them away and they ran and hid in the bushes nearby.

I’m worried they’re going to come back.

So is there some sort of app I can use to detect phones of people nearby within a certain range ? I believe this is the second attempt they’ve tried to rob me but this morning was the first time I actually saw them before they ran off.

There’s an Israeli company sells the equipment, although you do need to own the government before they’ll sell you it.

Fair call but there’s a lot of other stuff here I don’t want stolen that can’t be locked away as I don’t have the storage space , and I want to catch these pricks too

I mean you could chuck an AirTag in the boat and track it in the event they do somehow Nick it, but as far as actual phone tracking I’d be hesitant in saying that’s available to civilians lmao

Lol it actually is. U can download Bluetooth scanners for free on App Store and it shows you all the devices that ur Bluetooth can reach, obviously it’s not gonna trace their every movements but it shows you when there’s a Bluetooth device near you. So if your at home and think someone’s outside your house you can scan for Bluetooth and if their Bluetooth is turned on it will show up with a rough distance from where you’re scanning from.

I don’t think you’re one to weigh in on whether using something is legal or not. Judging by your post history you won’t give a crap either way. I’d hazard a guess that you know the people trying to steal your stuff.

BLE scanner apps are meant to be used for locating lost devices, not tracking cell phones.

ANYTHING RF is regulated. There is indeed a good chance what you want to do is illegal.

Just get: a dog and some cameras.

An apple approved app that tells me if someone is trespassing on my property to try and rob me is not illegal. The app just tells me if there are people in my property and that’s all. I don’t get any of their personal information from the app. So if they want to break the law and try to rob me, I will legally use technology to prevent being robbed.

All a camera is going to do is let me watch them rob me. Police won’t be able to identify them at night. And then I’ve been robbed with no leads to catch them and I won’t get my stuff back.

Theoretically you can buy an IMSI-catcher. But from a practical point of view, it’s better to check the local low - in some countries there will be consequences

If they have AirDrop enabled, you'd be able to see them if you (for example) open a photo and send it via AirDrop.

It's not a passive thing, though.
