So twice just tonight now my wallpaper has disappeared on bother the home and lock screens. I updated to 16.1.1 I think three days ago but it just started today. The only way to get it back is to restart the phone.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Edit: this is a known bug. Work around says not to use iCloud stored photo, but apparently this doesn't always work, since my background is locally stored. The other "workaround" is to use a default background. Not much of a workaround to be honest.

Happening to me, and all of my family as well. Super annoying.

You can try one of the "fixes" listed here, but it's still an unpatched bug. I can't seem to ever have a bug free experience with this fucking phone.

Right? bought a 14 pro max for 1400 dollars I would expect it to keep my damn wallpaper on it

I'm had my xs for over two years. It's been an endless run of glitches and bugs.

iPhone has thrown its reputation for "just works" right in the fucking gutter.

It’s crazy because before this phone, I had the XR. The camera on the XR was way better and I never had any issues with it. The camera on the 14 is absolute ass. Apple needs to get their crap together

it’s a new feature to save battery and for Always On Display.

Why would it remove the background from my homescreen? And I don't have AOD. I'm on an XS.

Nope confirmed this is a bug, not a feature.

Listed as "fixed", but more like "avoided by not having a custom background"
