So let’s say, hypothetically, that you have dust on your iPhone camera lens (in the camera housing). Let’s also say that you’re still within the 60 days to purchase AppleCare+. Then let’s say you contact Apple support and are told by the agent that because your device has an issue (that being the dust in the lens) that your device is ineligible for AppleCare+, and so your device would not be replaced at an Apple Store.
Would that information be correct, or could the support agent be mistaken? This would be on an iPhone purchased about 1.5 months ago, and in perfect condition besides that dust in the lens. No drops, scratches, or any damage of any sort. Just a tiny little hair of [hypothetical] dust.
Thank you all for your support on this hypothetical situation that I’m totally just curious about.

The agent is correct that if there is an issue with your device it should be fixed before AppleCare+ is added.
However, debris under the lens is a warrantable issue provided there’s no damage to the device. You can use your warranty to have your phone repaired. If this is an iPhone 12 or newer, it will not be replaced, it will be repaired. That is also true if you had AppleCare+.
Take it to an Apple Store, get it repaired, then add AppleCare+.
