Is my iPhone 14 Pro camera defective?
The photo taken by my iPhone 14 Pro looks over-sharpened mess and compared to the one taken with Sony A7III with 24-105 F4 lens. (FYI, 24-105 F4 isn't Sony's flagship lens or anything like that). I have have been hearing how smartphone cameras can now rival dedicated camera in good lighting conditions. It doesn't look the case to me.
I just switched from a 6 year old Android phone, I expected much more from Apple, so disappointed. :(

Nothing defective about it if you don’t like the way the photo was processed play with photographic styles or create your own. The other option is to shoot in ProRaw which is also how you can activate the 48MP images. But never compare any smartphone camera to a dedicated cam or DSLR.
For day to day pics 14 Pro takes some of the best pics I’ve seen on a phone using the photographic styles and 12MP binned images and even better with ProRaw, but again don’t try comparing to a dedicated camera setup with larger lenses.
