Photos are grainy/noisy

No matter the lighting, my photos always end up very grainy on my 13 mini. My old 5 has better looking photos with less noise. Is there a setting or something that could fix this, or could this be a defect I’ve overlooked?

Clean the lens. If that doesn’t fix it you may have a defective phone.

I wish I took more pictures a year ago when I bought it to notice. Do I have any options if it’s defective?

There’s more to photos than noise. Dynamic range for example, always a weakness in phone cameras. Even between my SE1 and SE2 there is a marked difference. Surely your 13 mini must be very much better overall than your 5? If not, there may be a fault.

It just seems like no matter what I do. I can’t take a sharp, clear photo. I tried some professional lights for Christmas photos and it looks like garbage with this phone but fine with a camera
