Switched back to an iPhone after 8 months. Using the same iCloud account. Messages first loaded with all my old convos, now all of a sudden I have trouble sending iMessages and all my previous messages almost show me as a third person if you will. Anyone else had this problem? Turned off iMessage and signed out of iCloud but still have the problem.

Different carrier from before and Samsung to this iPhone 14 pro max.

If it's any consolation; when I migrated my text messages from my moto z3 to my iphone 13 mini it was an imperfect migration. very often it would only sync one half of a conversation. Sometimes my messages, sometimes the messages I received. Sometimes it would alternate chunks for either party, completely removing context but still making it look like we were conversing.

edited to change tesxt to text and 14 to 13

Were you using RCS on Android? If so that might be causing the issue. RCS and iMessage don’t like each other being on on the same number.

Scroll down to the bottom, you can disable without using Messages app.
