there’s a whole youtube / doc on how the lincoln tunnel was built, and the comprehensive ventilation system made many years ago.

as interesting as it is, i still wouldn’t open a window in the tunnel unless i need to.

it’s what this building’s for:hudson towers

For what its worth... Sometimes those windows are broken and chances are someone has already tried to close it. You can always just ask the person closest to it, or close it yourself. But dont be surprised when it just falls back open. Thats been my experience over the years lol

The tunnels have huge ventilation systems that move a lot of air and were designed before cars had catalytic converters.

Changing air not fast enough to not be breathing in and smelling the gas coming out of cars and buses in the tunnel with the windows open. Air pollution.
