Any Uxbridgers out there that can give some insight as to how living in Uxbridge is?

I'm a married south Asian scientist in my early 30s that found a house there.

Are there fun things to do around? Great food? How does it fair for people of color?

Thanks in advance!

There’s not a lot on the 146 corridor, but it is conveniently located half way between Worcester and Providence. Without traffic it’s about 20 minutes to both and both have a lot of things to do.

Purgatory Chasm is close by, it’s a natural rock formation for multiple hiking/walking trails.

If you are looking for great food, Uxbridge isn't really the sort of place to look for it.

You can drive up to Milford, though, which has a little more variety. Mendon is similarly rural but closer to Milford and 495.

Bellingham, Franklin, and Milford are all more lively places

It’s QUIET beyond belief. A few nice parks, nice walkable downtown loop. Community garden & lots of fairly nice people. School system is meh. Lots of new commercial properties in last 5-10 years Not a lot of diversity so no decent food honestly. Mainly Italian or Greek sub shops. Where are you buying? North or South ? What neighborhood. I’ve been here 35 years for context in a quiet neighborhood near Mendon line.

Thanks for the reply! There's a new complex going up in North Uxbridge. New street called Pouts Lane? The houses looked very nice.

Yikes! They are WAY over priced for this area. I would encourage you to look at other places if you have not signed on the dotted line.

There's worcester and Providence, which are both 20 miles away. Otherwise, it's a rural town with not much to do. Access to boston is weird and indirect.

thank god 146 exists tho. I live in Bellingham and it's an amazing shortcut to worcester and I-90 west

It’s a small, welcoming working class town that’s a great place to raise a family. You come off as an entitled asshole.

It’s for country living convenient to the city.

Getting to 495 is a pain from Uxbridge. From the north, you have to take exit 20 (route 85), drive through milford along Route 16, then continue 10 miles further to Uxbridge center. From the south, you have to take exit 17 (Route 140) or exit 18 (route 126) and wind through the gridlocked dirt roads of Bellingham and mendon to get to Route 16.

Lived there for a few years. Really not much to do unless you want to drive to Providence or Worcester and there aren’t really any good food/restaurant options around.

We got tired of driving 30+ min to find good food or something to do.

It is very quiet though.
