Edited to update: I believe I have found someone! Her grandma was my great grandfathers sister! ☺️

After speaking with my father, this seems to be correct. He asked me to ask about fishing at the dam, and she mentioned the Texon factory, where my grandfather worked. My father used to go fishing at the Connecticut river!

Thank you so much for all of the help! I have been looking for years and never thought I would find anyone. 🥹

Looking at newspapers.com, I've found an article about him leaving for the Navy in 1943, winning a penmanship contest in 1932, and being a bearer for the coffin of Madeline Fitzgerald in 1980.

Its harder to find the reason between familial splits, or the true reason, as everyone has their own view of the reason why something happens.

Difficult to find vital records for the last 50 years or so since the last census we have is from 1950 and other records are protected for x # of years

Yes. But they separated when my father was quite young and he never saw him again. I’m trying to figure out what may have happened and if he moved back to Massachusetts. Or if he ever remarried.

>Kachur

In 1987 when one of his brother's dies he is listed as living in S. Hadley.

It's all together possible but I don't ever see him living out of Massachusetts. Just about 20 difficult documents/records indicating he lived in Mass.

Assuming the same guy you are talking about, he died 30 Apr 2007 and is buried in South Hadley's Mater Dolorosa Cemetery...

His Find A Grave memorial... https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/61865391/stephen-e-kachur

Four other Kachurs buried there (note that FaG lists only what people have entered for memorials, not necessary all of them that could be buried there).

Edited to add: also note that since memorials are created by anyone, since there is no photo of a gravestone on that memorial there is also the possibility it could be in the wrong cemetery or someone created it just assuming he must be there without having checked.)

Thank you!

I’ve seen his obituary, but I’m trying to figure out what the rest of his life was like. Doesn’t seem like he ever got remarried but it’s hard to tell.
