Hello beautiful people,

I am very likely moving to the Easthampton area this summer for a new job. I grew up in Louisiana and lived in Austin, TX for awhile so this will be a big change. Before you say anything.. yes. I know that it snows up there and that it is cold. I promise I'll be fine. Though any tips to help my dog get acclimated would be helpful! (pug mix)

My main question here is what are the main platforms for finding housing in Massachusetts? I've used Craigslist and Apartments.com in the past. Just curious if there is any specific website or method that is more commonly used by renters and landlords? Any suggestions on what neighborhoods to avoid?

I appreciate your help!!

Any online aprtment thing is usually good although I've heard craigslist has gone down hill.

Easthamton is good for real estate ,reasonably priced but still close to Northamton,Holyoke and Springfield

*** EDIT ***

Also, I should mention I have a dog and a cat. I'm finding that renting is not super pet friendly in the area.

Yes we lived in the area for a while and struggled to find rentals that accepted pets. Not helpful but know it’s tough and if you can I recommend to start saving for a house. Prices in Easthampton are rising so doesn’t have to be there. I hope you find something!

I think rentnoho is still a thing, but they do charge a hefty fee. Easthampton is a great little town, and the whole valley is wonderful. I hope you love it here!

I’ve lived in the same Easthampton 2BR for more than 22 years. I found it through a local real estate firm named Taylor. There’s a billion on-line sites of course but just asking around town is not unheard of; we’re a very friendly crowd around here…

Consider getting a realtor to do the hard work for you. Free to renters in this state, they get paid by the landlord.
