This is normally for Gang printing, you can print lots of different flavors in one run to save on setup costs but the risk of getting them mixed up is higher, so when the cups are formed a reject system scans the barcode and rejects any mixed products.

It's for the cutter after the sheet is printed. It scans the barcode to see if it's a blank sheet or not. If it scans it gets cut, if not it shuts off the machine.
