Foliage is completely gone. Might still be a few people up there as it’s a short east hike with a good payoff, but won’t be any color.

Foliage is gone but it's going to be very nice weather, so I'd definitely expect to have a good amount of company.

It’s always worth it to get out of civilization for a bit and go for a hike. Some of the most peaceful and refreshing times I’ve had are being on mountains in the middle of winter. Barely any people around, just you and silence. Don’t need foliage to enjoy a good hike in nature!

All leaves gone in the notch for weeks. Should still be able to catch some late colors down south and into mass

Sure, but why limit yourself to Artist's Bluff?

At this point, wait until January. When there hasn't been thick snowfall for a couple days, go with microspikes and gaiters for a beautiful view without the crowds. (Unless you want to do it after a fresh snowfall w/ snowshoes!)

Plenty of other hikes to do that will be enjoyable without the popularity until winter.
