IMO, you're better off looking in ME or MA. My dad(now retired) was on scallop boats out of New Bedford for years before he bought his own boat. I don't think you'll find much other than a few day boats for groundfish or lobster out of Portsmouth.

I also missed the part where you were living in CT. You should be able to find something in CT, RI, or bump up to New Bedford/Fairhaven, MA. Good luck.
