Public indoor lap swimming pools?

Hi, I moved to New Haven recently and am having some trouble finding a local pool for lap swimming.

I've heard local school's pools (like Wilbur Cross) are open to the public, but I can't seem to find hours or more info. Does anyone know the schedule or have more details/information on who to contact?

Or if anyone has any other suggestions for a pool with good hours, please let me know! Thank you!

Check with the City of New Haven Parks and Recreation Department for school pool schedules.

I would suggest membership at Albertus Magnus College to use their pool, but I think they just reduced their hours. Check their website for the Cosgrove Athletic Center.

The JCC in Woodbridge has a nice pool.

None of these options are public however.

Agreed for New Haven Park and Rec dept. At different times the Wilbur Cross High, Hill Regional, and Conte schools have all listed public swim hours maybe more so on non-school weeks and summer

YMCA on Orange / Milford line. It’s the Woodruff Family YMCA on Orange Ave.

The pool has been closed since September- they closed it for normal cleaning and found serious issues.

The Branford middle school used to be open to the public. Otherwise, the Y in Branford is pretty good.

Only open swim in New Haven during the winter is at Hillhouse HS (back of school is entrance, ~76 Crescent St is closest address).

Wednesdays 5-8 PM, Saturdays 10-2. There’s a dedicated lap lane when there’s lap swimmers in the water.

I teach the LG classes with NH, so I’m there and/around all the time. Stop in and say hi! Feel free to PM if you have any other questions
