Just moved to east haven area from the Midwest and was wondering if anyone here knew of some good shops to get American traditional tattoos.

Second this. Very professional and talented
Keys on Kites in Westville has two impeccable traditional artists.
Do you know if Darius still there? My artist used to work there and I liked when I was getting something done and Darius was just hanging with us. Cool dude.
Yes, Darrius Cappelli and Rich Hadley https://www.instagram.com/keysonkitestattoo/ def stop by!
I still see him walking around the neighborhood sometimes! He should be.
Keys on Kites in New haven. Go see Darius for sure
I second this!!!!!!! Darius is THE BEST!
Idk how they do with American traditional but Black Hatchet has a really good reputation. I’ve got some friends with ink from them and it looks sick. They’re just very popular so you have to book a while in advance.
Eric hesseltine at Black Hatchet does some great american traditional!
I second this. The best artist for Traditional and American Traditional in the state
Black Hatchet is great! Can’t speak to traditional, per se, but a well run shop with good people.
Dark side , hope gallery
Seconding Darkside!
Black Hachet in Wallingford has a pretty award winning artist named ricky borchert. also a bunch of other good artists
Hope gallery, Woodward Ave
Rich Hadley at Keys on Kites. American Traditional. His work is incredible.
I've been told Forest to Shore in Stratford is good. Same with Black Hatchet in Wallingford.
I personally go to Witchhouse in Hartford (https://www.instagram.com/witchhousetattoo/?hl=en) or Ratkiller (https://www.instagram.com/ratkiller3000/?hl=en) in Glastonbury but those are both shleps.
While this thread is open, any recommendations in the area for very precise/exact typography tattoos?
Rich at keys on kites can and does typography regularly
Foxden in Wallingford. LGBTQ+ friendly with incredible artists
Sleepy Hollow Tattoo 249 Naugatuck Ave Milford 203-876-5085
Also, worth the drive to go see Bryant Setzler at The Edge in South Windsor. He’s incredible

I might get vilified for this but I’d recommend going out to a major city for any permanent body mods like tattoos. Plenty of amazing world-class shops in Boston, NYC, and Philly.
To be clear here, I think you’re getting vilified not out of some local pride thing but because there are absolutely world class shops/artists in the area. I’d rather get work from someone like Joe Capobianco than just about anyone in any of those places.
To each their own, but I can’t stand Joe’s tattoo style.
