I apologize if this is not the place for this post..but Does anyone know where there's a place for a sweet, loving, respectful 25 year old woman can live temporarily in Central Jersey till she gets on her feet? Or any programs available to her? Or where she can find roomies in a similar situation?? She left abusive, alcoholic parents from another state and suffers from anxiety and some learning disabilities. She just can't get a break and I really want to try to help her. She does work, but can’t afford an apartment because NJ. Most places I find are for single moms with children and she has none. Any help would be appreciated, good people!

Maybe try Womanspace in Lawrenceville, NJ. I believe they provide individual and family services to those affected by abuse.

Try calling 211 to see what is available near her. Also try reaching out to her county’s PATH program to get suitable housing.

I work for the PATH program in Monmouth county with people in similar situations. Are her learning disabilities documented? Is she eligible for DDD? They have housing subsidies. I would also recommend she call Mercy Center in Asbury Park since they have a DV program with services and housing and it seems that she would qualify as fleeing. There's also a program called the Women's Hospitality Network in Monmouth county that will be starting in January that offers shelter.

This is so helpful. Thank you. Her disabilities are documented but pretty sure she was turned down for ddd and she is highly functional and can work/take care of herself. Is the new shelter “women’s hospitality network” contact info googleable? I’m not familiar with PATH but is it an organization she can call (or I can call on her behalf) that refers her to available programs?

I'll DM you later! I don't think she'd qualify for my program but I'm happy to recommend resources.

Thank you. Going to be looking at all these resources today. Also someone recommended calling 211 where they can explain all of her options

County social services will put you up in a motel if you're homeless. They also do all kinds of other services.
